Thank you for looking.
Robin Webster is a self-taught photographer born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in many locations around picturesque Ontario, and currently resides in Waterloo.
Robin has always had a creative flair, which is no surprise given her family background. Her maternal grandfather was a painter, as was her paternal grandmother. Robin's father was a brilliant writer with many published works, and was known to be one of Canada’s most leading authorities on Canadian broadcasting. Her mother spent many years as a young woman performing in theater in Ottawa.
Robin’s creativity is evident in her eclectic collection of photographic images. After 35 years of pouring her creative energy into her retail management career, Robin is now able to follow her heart's desire of sharing the beauty she sees around her with the world.
Robin is most noted for her floral photography. She has an eye for colour, and flavours her shots with texture and unique composition. She has developed her skills in photography recently using natural light and visual stimulation from her community and when abroad. Her studies in flora using macro images have been a consistent theme and interest since beginning photography acutely in 2006. Robin’s patience, imagination, and love of gardening bring colour and texture to her work.
Using digital camera work, Robin’s floral photographs portray a wide variety of shots. The different perspectives used by Robin create a variety of contrasts, such as vibrant sunflowers leaping from a vivid azure background, or softly curving tulip stems in a misty setting. Robin brings creative excitement to these photographs by generously displaying facets of flowers not often used by photographers. Robin’s perception of flowers is sure to delight.
As one of Canada’s newest photographers, Robin Webster has already won her first award at the juried “International Flower Power Fine Art Exhibition” in Frisco, Texas, USA. This was Robin's first exhibit. Her work is now showing in other venues in Texas and also in her hometown in Waterloo, Ontario. Her work has also been featured on key photography website, RedBubble.com, within their Cover Page and Featured Artists page. She has won and placed in several online photography competitions.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I have never ceased to be amazed by the wonders of nature. I watch things grow, display their seasonal beauty, and I think, “How can this be?” We are surrounded by beauty; all we need to do is take the time to look. I see the beautiful gifts that this world presents and my heart is happy.
My inspiration comes from the world around me, how I see it, and the feeling and emotion that a wondrous sight evokes in me. The way the light hits an object or how a different perspective presents itself, are the things that I am compelled to photograph. I feel blessed to have the ability to capture these moments and share them with all of you through my eyes. It is a privilege to be able to display my work for you.
My passion is for the outdoors. This will be evident to you as you visit the online gallery. I also enjoy photographing different subjects. You will find my portfolio to be very eclectic in nature. As I grow in knowledge of my craft and learn new techniques, my body of work will reflect and evolve. We never stop learning. I hope you enjoy my work.
